It is crazy to think Sam & Syd are almost 21 months (almost 2 years old-wow!) They seem to learn something new everyday and I need to document some of them here so we don't forget everything!
Sam is still our sensitive little guy. When he starts to do something bad and we tell him no- he immediately gets the sad puppy dog look and comes for a hug. He loves his little brush and now spoons. Nothing calms Sam down like giving him a little pink hairbrush- Tom wishes it was a football but for now it is a hairbrush. Both Sam & Syd currently love shoes-theirs or ours. They love to tromp around the house in mommy or daddy's shoes.
Sydney is as spunky as ever! She is talking more and more and has even started using short sentences. One of Sydney's favorite things to do is to hide. I'm not sure where she learned it and I must admit it scared me a little at first-but it is super cute when she does it in the house with limited hiding possibilities. She loves to squeeze into the smallest spaces and wait until you finally find her and then she smiles up at you and says "boo"! When it comes to discipline- Sydney is a bit more difficult. If you tell her no she tends to go ahead and do it anyway. Her teachers tell us she is the one who'll be sneaking out.

Florida 2011
July 17th-23rd was our annual trip to Niceville, FL. The kids did great in the car only getting anxious the last hour (of a 13 hour trip)- Tom & I were a little anxious by then too. It was great to get to see all of the Thorntons!
Our trip to Barnes & Noble with all the cousins
Sydney with Aunt AmySam was a little- ok extremely- clingy
up until the last couple of days. Sydney & StevieSam & DaddyCousin Libby was a great babysitting helper!

The kids were very busy with all new places to explore-
the "fort" under the table
Fun with Grandma Lu & Grumpa Gene
July 8-11, 2011 Sam & Syd got to spend the weekend in Ohio with Grandma Lu & Grumpa Gene while Tom & I went to a wedding in PA. We weren't sure how it would go since both kids had been pretty clingy leading up to the trip. No worries though- Syd was her normal social butterfly self and the "Sam whisperer" aka Grandma Lu kept Sam happy.
Lunch at the Eagles on Friday 7/8/11
Enjoying their new chairs
I guess Sydney was a little warm since this is where we found her...
